The giardia is a protozoo, which can be passed on to dogs mainly over contaminated drinking water. A typical simptom of this disease is diarrhea with ocasional blood. A strong irritation can also appear, which often leads to incorrect diagnoses.

Panacur is the treatments of choice. Against the recommendation the treatment should be prolonged to 5 days in case of a strong infestation, then interrupted for 3 days and continued for 5 more days of treatment. Any other dogs in the household should be treated as well as a precaution.
